Review of Love & Mercy (2015) by Stefanus Andi G — 26 Sep 2015
The true story of Beach Boys lead depicted in two timelines: 90's and 70's. Often beyond grasp of his fellow band, Brian Wilson somehow managed to channel his music insight into some marvelous orchestrations. Even inviting zoo inhabitants in "Pet Sound" production, delirious arrangement was profoundly defined. Freed from the grip of evil psychiatrist by his love, Melinda, he released his single "Smile" winning two Grammies. Mercy is the theme of this fabulous flick.
The songs mostly come from the band's stocks themselves, but there are background music from each era befittingly. "Good Vibrations" is the song to note.
Genius is a gift come with inherent side effects, either inside or outside the person bestowed upon. The vision it brings may come ahead of its time, but it is a brilliant view that shall shine like a diamond in the end.
