Review of Love & Friendship (2016) by Anne H — 27 Jun 2016
Superbly adapted, acted, shot, and everything else, "Love and Friendship" is simply one of the finest films ever made of one of Jane Austen's works. Austen's genius was already apparent in her late teens, and the film does her vivacious writing justice.
The film is remarkably influenced by more stylish Shakespeare adaptations for the better, as the proceedings end up feeling like one of Kenneth Branagh's best efforts. I can't imagine a more funny or thrillingly refreshing film such as this coming out any time soon.
"Love and Friendship" is a special thing.
