In many ways, Love and Anarchy is an anti-political film with Wertmuller suggesting that political activism does not necessarily draw from the well spring of ideology. Switching between farce and poignancy, the film asserts that an individual's need for self-determination may in fact supersede the passionate politics calling for the collective need for a better society.
