Review of Love Affair (1939) by Terry W — 01 May 2012
The predecessor to "An Affair to Remember" in 1957, which stars Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr, the 1939 film directed by George Cukor and starring Charles Boyer and Irene Dunne is pretty much the same story, only different actors and in black and white.
Couple meets on cruise, travel, fall in love, leave previous lovers, but it all comes crashing down when the woman gets hit by a car and is left totally paralyzed from the waste down. Then, she does not want to see her love again because she feels embarrassed.
More mediocre than that of sequel and also, more boring. Except the score, nothing really stands out with this drama.
