Review of Lost in Translation (2003) by Michael A — 20 Dec 2012
Some movies are about events, others are about moments. This is the latter of the two. An odd couple romance with no consummation, it shows how strangers who are lost in an unfamiliar world can take comfort in each other (a story which hit particularly close to home for me, and which I can tell you is portrayed quite accurately).
It moves at a deliberate pace, but never to the point where it gets self-indulgent. It's hypnotic and beautiful, touching and funny, and profoundly original. It's an odd little movie the likes of which you are sure to never see again.
Perfect.
