Review of Lost in Translation (2003) by Joshua D — 30 Jan 2014
"Help.".
For a long time I tried to find a quote that would suit my review without giving away anything. A quote that could match the immense emotion displaced in this incredible movie and still help a reader understand the idea of it.
Lost In Translation is a beautiful movie. Dream-like, yet so real and deep. This movie explores two humans by simply watching them. There isn't much background knowledge or flashbacks or 'conflict' starters. Which I find incredibly amazing. As a viewer I cared about these humans because I wanted to, because the movie made me want to through clever camera angles, simple dialogue that is so real, and acting by the absolutely amazing duo of Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson.
As the movie progresses I fell deeper and deeper allured by the beautiful scenery and the fantastic soundtrack. All along feeling so sad for its characters. Then happy. Then sad. You start to make morality decisions and even debate whats right or wrong or even just.
This movie is magic. So simple. So delicate. Yet so beautiful.
