Review of Lost in La Mancha (2002) by Dario L — 21 Feb 2005
For anybody who ever wanted to create a film, be it a short or a grand epic, "Lost in La Mancha" becomes instantly the stuff nightmares are made of. A true horror film, more terrifying even cause It is actually true.
It may even be the first docu -melo- horror film ever. Melodramatic cause It is heartbreaking to watch the passion and heart Gilliam puts in everything... and you know all that is going to be shattered. If I didn´t cry, I came close.
The docu in itself I didn´t find that great - not that insightful, really, more like a "The not making of" or a version from hell of one of those featurettes they add to the DVD as a cheap extra. But the material is so powerful that "Lost in La Mancha" is always entertaining. Then again, the material is so powerful It is a pity this documentary isn´t great.
