Review of Lost in La Mancha (2002) by Alwyn D — 29 Apr 2008
Terry Gilliam seems like one of those people who's usually the smartest person in the room and knows it. Thus, he kinda comes off like a grumpy douche at times--though you must give him credit for giving his blessing to the release of this warts-and-all doc on the perils of independent/Eurofied filmmaking.
The doc itself is interesting but fails to convey the sense that the production was truly doomed (a la "Hearts of Darkness") when most of what derailed the project is mere bad luck. Poor Jean Rochefort.
It's still way better than "The Brothers Grimm.".
