Review of Lost in La Mancha (2002) by Iain A — 02 Jun 2008
Clearly started life as a 'making of' documentory on a film that was doomed from the start. Unfortunately the film appears to be very rooted in it's origins and feels very cheap and doesn't provide any insight or unravelling of the characters involved.
Also the film being made is a complete bastardisation of the story that Gilliam supposedly loved. The way Johnny Depp's character is shoe-horned into the plot of the film shows either how little Gilliam respected teh text or how hard he had to try to get any money behind it, but this is not highlighted, which is a shame.
