Review of Lost in La Mancha (2002) by Critic M — 27 May 2013
Certainly one of the most brutally honest and even painful making of documentaries, this one is about the disastrous production of Gilliam's Don Quixotte where everything goes wrong. An intimate look into the filmmaking process in general, a too ambitious filmmaker and the unhappiness that can grow within the group, which affects the project and can lead to a work's tragic demise.
The worst thing about the experience is that from the few scenes Gilliam shot, we know it could have been quite a spectacular movie.
