David Lynch's darkest film. A nightmare odyssey that takes you on a journey and then attempts to strangle you. Bill Pullman's character is destined to repeat the same mistakes. These criminals make pacts with the devil and they get lost on the highway, in hopes of escaping their demons.
It's a constant unending journey, complete with the femme fatale seductress. It's astonishing how much Lynch can convey with sheer blackness and sound. The first act is undeniably tense and frightening.
Through shadows, light and ambient sound (which Lynch did himself), this movie achieves perfection.
