David Lynch movies are like walking through a labyrinth on LSD while trying to juggle knives. He never gives an explanation for his works, which makes most people all the more delighted in disparaging what he has created.

Most of us will find this film watchable, but a waste of time, considering it takes more than a watch to understand all of its absurdity. A man has killed his cheating wife. He is caught and sentenced to death by the electric chair.

I'd say a good 95% of this film takes place in his own psychotic brain as he lies in his cell on death row. He is in such denial and despair that his head has now taken over. After reality sets back in when the scariest little guy ever pulls him back to where he belongs, he creates a new identity for himself, living the fantasy as a misplaced young prisoner who is soon released.

He parties, he ends up falling in love with a woman that looks just like his wife, works with a mob enforcer, etc. Creepy little man comes around again to pull him back to reality, and the last 20 minutes are basically our main character understanding what he has really done.

The final scene still takes place in his maniacal head, although we know what is happening in reality. A bold move. All in all, this is a David Lynch movie. It will engage some, confuse most others, and annoy the rest.
