The original Lost Boys is a staple of 80's horror and still stands as one of the best modern vampire movies. Its sequel, The Tribe, was embarrassingly awful and painful to sit through. Yeah, it was THAT bad. Naturally when they announced a third I think fans were less than thrilled. Well, with a new writer and director on board this time around, Lost Boys: The Thirst actually ends up being a lot of fun.

Don't get me wrong, the film is far from perfect and is really only for die hard fans of the first. The story is extremely by-the-numbers, although it does actually have a few good twists. The acting is hit and miss, especially from Feldman who seems to be channeling Christian Bale's Batman voice and mugging for the camera every chance he gets. Cheesy acting aside, The Thirst is actually filled with some emotion. There's a scene where Feldman visits the grave of Corey Haim's character that's really quite moving. And I'm not gonna lie, it was great seeing the Frog brothers back together again, if only for nostalgia sake.

Yes, the plot is full of holes, the acting is wobbly and the dialogue isn't the greatest, but it's a HUGE improvement over the last installment and, at the very least, offers some fun moments for fans of the original. You just have to be in the mood for a really cheesy, low budget horror flick or get the full enjoyment outta this one. Forget that abortion of a movie The Tribe ever existed and give this new sequel a try, it definitely gets the Lost Boys back on the right track.
