Review of Loser (2000) by Andres S — 03 Aug 2009
Loser is a stereotypical teen/adult film that suffers from bad acting and a dull script.
Acting - 4/10.
The acting in this film is only carried by the three leading actors. Jason Biggs fits the role character of Paul perfectly fitting the geeky mold, Mena suvari as the fantasy girl of Paul' dream while yet oblivious to Pual's Love for her, and Greg Kinnear as Mr. Alcott the smooth talking professor who gets all the college chicks. They were average with the acting. The 3 forgettable rich frineds of Paul cannot act to save their lives. The acting is the main kill point for this film.
Story/Originality - 6/10.
The Originality is really crappy. The story I do enjoy for it kinda relates a bit towards the lives of few college kids out there. However, the romance is as fake as the breast implants on Pam Anderson. The romance truly puts thi film to shame as this I a romantic comedy coming of age film.
Comedy - 3/10.
This film isn't funny at all. Even when Pauil makes a joke in the film the crowd around him doesn't laugh and even if you co-stars don't laugh at the joke you expect your audience to. The jokes tried by Alcott on Dora from the teabag to the dress don 't even bring a chuckle or a smile from me. This Romantic comedy puts the comedy to shame.
Romance - 4/10.
The romance is really bad aspect of this film. The romance between thhe two is really fake. Like in this film one second when Alcott reveals what really happened when Paul stepped into his office she goes through a flashback of what she did with Paul and realizes he is the one. UGGGGHHHH!!!!! That is the corniest most unoriginal thing and fakest s*** i've ever seen man. It's old it dry have some imagination. God!!!!
Entertainment value - 5/10.
Honestly. This film will eithere bore you to sleep, force you to sit back and watch it or fling your remote at the tv. I can't go on any more the film is that....dull.
All in All, Loser struggles to get a 22/50 which garners a 44%. Well loook at that my first rotten rating goes to Loser, Once again proving Jason Biggs' only satisfies through American Pie.
