Review of Lorenzo's Oil (1992) by Nichole S — 08 Jun 2010

This movie was just simply amazing, anyone who votes it down must not have a heart, or have been too desensitized to really see an emotionally heart breaking movie anymore. As part of an A&P class in my Junior year we watched this movie.

Even though there are lots of movies out there about people dying of some kind of tragic disease, there have been none as good as Lorenzo's Oil. The acting done by the entire crew was just absolutely amazing, it let you feel like you were so much closer to them than you actually are.

Wouldn't we all do this for our own children if they were dying without a cure? It's simply amazing what certain, very normal, families can accomplish with just the right amount of determination.

The movie itself was enjoyable, and this is coming from someone who usually doesn't watch things as old as I am. The plot and acting brought me to near tears right in the middle of class, and needless to say only a few people in the room were dry eyed.

This is a must see heart warmer of a family going through a terrible struggle and working to save their first born (if I remember correctly, it very well could have been another family in the movie that had two sons).

And not only does it bring light to this amazing series of events, but it also shows the errors in the ways of other people. The parents sitting around doing nothing, saying they should just make their lives comfortable instead of trying to say them, the doctors who can't believe a couple have found the cure to such a horrible disease, and how as a community/government, as long as something is out of sight enough we couldn't care any less about it.
