Review of Lore (2012) by Brad S — 26 Jan 2015
A poetic and atmospheric look at the after effects a German family deals with in the aftermath of D-Day, Hitler's suicide and the demise of the third reach. The severe brainwashing of the German children at the center of this story unravels gradually as they experience the harsh realities of surviving as they travel through the wasteland that is left in Germany.
The film presents an interesting and different look at WWII and impressed me with the kid's performances and the fantastic cinematography. But the plot and story is a bit clunky and simplistic. And the characters just don't reveal enough complexity.
The film felt like a bit of a missed opportunity, it it was a valiant effort from everyone involved.
