Review of Lord of War (2005) by Venessa S — 12 Nov 2015
An intelligent and thrilling satire on the gun trade. Writer-director Andrew Niccol takes an interesting, if not highly controversial, subject and turns it into a darkly funny and entertaining thriller.
Nicolas Cage is wonderful as always, and Ethan Hawke, Niccol's go-to actor, is also damn solid. Lord of War may be all over the place, but it still manages to deliver thought-provoking messages through its story and dialogue.
