Review of Lord of the Flies (1963) by Ford H — 22 Jan 2008

Ill start off by saying Ive never read the book my review is all on my reaction to the movie. The Acting is quite good considering its children acting, some of them are quite bad of course but overall ok.

I did enjoy this movie it was quite good, some scenes were very memorable and actually quite disturbing esspecially the ones involving pigs. The things I found bad about this movie was that the beginning was weirdly done, I dunno if I just missed it but it doesnt explain why they were on the plane to begin with.

Ive heard alot of stories about this movie like "Oh it depicts human nature so well" etc.... But im sorry, I found it to be pretty far fetched that they would just turn like that. It doesnt really explain, I know I wouldnt act like that.

How long were they out there for?? It seemed like 3 days before they turned. I found the story to actually be quite shallow, Not much actually happens. The direction was ok for a movie made in the 60s.

Im yet to see the remake which Ive heard mixed reactions to. Overall still worth seeing, just a little over rated in the "realism" department.
