Review of Looper (2012) by Mehki B — 11 Oct 2013
"Looper" A well crafted interesting time travel caper, in which bodies are disposed of, 'in the past' along with the evidence, but the hit men must also eliminate their future self, when their contract is up, in the future.
I really enjoyed this movie right up to the "LAME, Cop out, ILL Conceived, AWFUL, ending, which NEGATES the entire movie. GAWD I HATED this crappy ending, but the rest of this movie is SO good. It does go overboard with the parts, where a past self is tortured to make the future self 'comply', it's heavy handed like in "Frequency" when a killer loses a limb in the past and then the 'current self' has his arm melt away, I mean COME ON, it's an interesting visual, but use LOGIC.
But, NO MATTER what, a person DEAD in the past, HAS NO future BECAUSE?, they are dead. In "Looper" they attempt to alter the future, but when something is accomplished the 'Past Self' remembers, even though HE DID NOT experience it the 'Future Self' did, thus it SHOULD resolve itself, but NOT in this movie.
The ending "REALLY SUCKS". It's a FOUR star movie with a ONE star ending.
