Review of Looper (2012) by Neal J — 13 Jun 2016
Easily one of the best Sci-Fi films in the last decade, Rian Johnson(writer/director of the acclaimed Indy feature, Brick) Joesph-Gordon Levitt(JGL) and Bruce Willis tease your mind and rock your senses in this time travelling bonanza.
Set mostly in Kansas in the year 2044, Looper follows JGL's character who assassinates people from 2074 for the Mob, but when his employers decide to close his loop by sending his older self(played by Bruce Willis) back to be killed things quickly fall apart for JGL.
With his present day employers trying to track him down, JGL has to kill his future to save his present. The film also stars Emily Blunt in one of her most underrated performances and also boosts a cool Jeff Daniels sent from the future to manage the loopers.
There isn't much about Looper that ain't good or boring. No dry spells as Director Rian Johnson shifts gears from time travelling to... Well I do not want spoil it for ya. Needless to say, Looper is originally inventive and blows over you with the satisfaction of a cool breeze on a hot summer day.
