Review of Looking for Richard (1996) by Liz G — 22 Oct 2008
A great concept. I just think that Pacino and his cast and crew failed to really show how they really pursued their objective to simplify Richard III for a modern audience. Instead, everybody in the film seemed to have gotten too worked up over interpreting the difficult characters and intricate language of the play.
Richard III is known to be one of Shakespeare's most complex plays so this was bound to happen. Eventually the film just got very unorganized to me and it seemed like it took on directions different from the direction it was set up to take.
