Review of Looking for Eric (2009) by Jason J — 16 Dec 2009

Superb Ken Loach movie about a Manchester postman whose life is on a downward spiral with his dysfunctional family then all of a sudden his all-time favourite footie idol Eric Cantona turns up at his house to give him some good advice on how to turn everything around.

I wasn't expecting much out of this but it thoroughly exceeded my expectations. You don't have to be a football fan to enjoy this great movie. It's got the perfect balance of drama and humour.

Most of the cast are unknown and as for the great man himself. Cantona is just Cantona - whether you loved him or hated him when he was playing he just oozes charisma. Brilliant.
