Review of Looking for Eric (2009) by David M — 06 Apr 2013
In the canon of Ken Loach comedies, this is a good entry - though for me it's not quite up there with 2012's 'The Angles' Share'. A postman with a broken marriage is a huge Manchester United fan - he finds himself having conversations with the footballer in his bedroom, and his life starts to take new turns.
Funny, appealing, warm-hearted - and with familiar Loach overtones of social issues. The final third doesn't quite gel - but it's a quality film.
