Review of Longtime Companion (1989) by Codie E — 19 Sep 2007
Probably the most in-depth and personal film about the effect of AIDS on a group of people, I really appreciated the subtlty and restraint the film showed. The performances were excellent but in particular Campbell Scott and Bruce Davison, who was understandably OSCAR nominated for his role.
My major criticisms would be the score, which didn't suit the subtlty of the film and the lack of an alternate perspective, there isn't a heterosexual male character and only one female character.
These are small criticisms though against a deeply moving film.
