Review of Lonely Hearts (2006) by Patrick C — 18 May 2009
Interesting story but the villains didn't have enough charisma for my taste. Hayek overacted her way through most of the scenes and Leto just didn't have the allure that one would expect from his character.
What I did enjoy was the way that the lighting worked in that their eyes often had a reflection that made them look flat like a serpent. I could have done without the quasi-moralizing at the end in terms of what police do and capital punishment.
Truthfully, those scenes could have been just as well omitted. The son was great and it is nice to see Laura Dern still working.
