Review of Lone Survivor (2013) by Mike P — 10 Jul 2014
Lone Survivor is an intense, engaging, and powerful telling of a true story of survival, brotherhood, and morality. It's clear that Wahlberg and the entire rest of the crew really wanted to do justice to this story and to the real-life soldiers who went through all of this.
It's not a "Hurrah-America" movie and it also doesn't portray every Middle Eastern person as an evil, gun-toting terrorist; some of them are just regular people like you and me. It's got a few pacing issues and I wasn't too connected with the other three soldiers, but overall Lone Survivor is effective in what it needs to do and is a strong testament to not only these 4 men, but for all of the men and women serving in our military and the constant struggles they go through each day.
