Review of Lone Survivor (2013) by Kaustubh H — 12 Sep 2014
Lone Survivor is a horrific tale told in a most terrific way. The hopelessness of the Seals gets to your bones and the raw uninhibited battlefield woes makes you wince in agony. Add to that the horror of knowing that all this actually happened! This is one movie that did justice to the true story in a most satisfying way.
Mark Wahlberg shines and so does Ben Foster. While the film as a film is absolutely gripping it might not be taken well by those who object America's blatant invasion of the middle east. We do get to see though in the film in a most moving way that goodness resides on both sides but the movie doesn't delve into the politics and American agenda behind this and neither it was meant to.
It is a tale of heroism, judgments, emotion and most of all, compassion and conscience which it beautifully portrays.
