Review of London to Brighton (2006) by Tom W — 02 Oct 2007
Although Paul Andrew Williams film is a startling and solemn debut, a new twist on the well-worn British gangster movie, itâ??s character motivations ultimately let it down. An unconvincing conclusion in which the violent son of local mobster, frees the killers of his father because he was once abused by his dad is appallingly trite, in spite of knock-out performances from a cast of unknowns.
That arguably said, the film is still remarkably well shot for such a low-budget and the dialogue (reportedly written in a weekend) is acutely observed.
A promising future lies ahead for Williams.
