Review of London River (2009) by Aidan H — 25 Mar 2012
Pretty decent two-hander remarkable for yet another fine performance from Blethyn as one of two concerned parents abroad on the mean streets of London town (the other played with magisterial presence by Koutaye) as they try to track down their missing children.
Using footage from the terrorist outrage that rocked the city in 2005, director Bouchareb neatly encapsulates the mood of the times by reflecting the country's paranoia in Mrs. Sommers' Middle English tics.
Bleak and occasionally powerful, LR is a poignant and timely reminder not to let hate rule the heart.
