Review of London Boulevard (2010) by Alan W — 24 Nov 2010
If a film can be overwritten AND underwritten at the same time, this is it. There are far too many things going on and they are mostly unfocused, while the relationship between Farrell and Knightley's character is befuddling and came out of nowhere.
In fact, Knightley's character is totally one-dimensional. Sometimes the writing tries to be cool by not explaining some things and keeping it a bit of a mystery, but in this film, there are far too many things unexplained or unanswered.
That's not cool - just messy. Having said that, I was engaged and never bored throughout the duration of the film but a lot of it has to do with the photography and style/mood of the film. But overall, it is just a bit too messy.
