Review of London Boulevard (2010) by Tim M — 21 Nov 2012
"A movie is more than dialogue and a soundtrack. And direction is a lot more than making sure all your favorite parts of your own script make it to the screen intact." An overly merciful Farrell gets thanked in the way most benevolent assassins seem to be thanked.
Great credits, directing and acting, but the story doesn't really have any twists or intrigue, it has all "the tension of a late-night pub shrug". It's combination of drugs, violence, fame and romance have a certain appeal.
However, it's familiarity flirts with cliches and trademarks. There are a couple of minutes of good movie here, and it's pleasingly stylish overall, but I suggest watching "Sexy Beast", "Layer Cake", "The Limey" or "In Bruges" instead.
