Review of Lolita (1962) by Stacy G — 07 Jun 2011
I liked the movie, but thought that it was rather slowly paced. I'm all for long films, but the pacing drags here. The film lacks Kubrick's visual flare seen in his other work. The story is good, Peter Seller's is great, as always.
I enjoyed the film, but thought that it was not as great as Kubrick's other films. I also thought that Lolita herself was painted less as a victim and more as an object. I understand that the perspective of the film is from James Mason's point of view, but Lolita was portrayed less as a child and more as an acceptable love interest.
