Review of Logan's Run (1976) by Jordan Y — 18 Mar 2008
While I've heard a lot about this film, especially it being a cult classic for sci-fi fans I must say I was only moderatly happy with the film. Logan's Run is a fairly simple, if not painfully plotholed, story based on a relatively popular novel of the same name.
The story is changed with some minor details for the film, which doesn't hurt it but the biggest issue is the visual effects. Even for the 1970's these effects are rather dated, and it is hurt by a bit of over-directing in some scenes that would be better left untouched.
The best qualities of the film lie in strong acting and suspense that will pull you into its rather intriguing story elements. The film also has plenty of little tid bits that make it rememberable and at the same time was so creative it has spawned many films that spin off from its story concept.
