Review of Logan's Run (1976) by Nick L — 26 Apr 2008
This T K Maxx version of (effectively) Brave New World is so of its time you'd expect it to have an ABBA soundtrack and a cameo by Gerald Ford. Its heart is in the right place (criticising 'contemporary' obsessions with youth and leisure) but it's all fairly timid and naff stuff, especially compared to its (far superior) peer group) of "Rollerball" and "The Planet of the Apes".
Jenny Agutter gets her baps out again (has she ever appeared in a film where she doesn't?), both of which are damn sight more arresting than the performances of both Peter York and Peter Ustinov, two of the most overrated actors to have ever accidently stumbled in front of a film camera.
Mildly influential in its way, "Logan's Run" doesn't really deserve to remain in the wider public's consciousness for that much longer.
