Review of Logan's Run (1976) by Sam P — 11 Apr 2012
You ever had it that youâ(TM)ve heard of a classic film that when you watch, you just feel disappointed? Yeah, that was Loganâ(TM)s Run to me. I really was interested in the story, the ideas behind the film, and the set was amazingly wondrous, you can see where the money went, but I donâ(TM)t feel it aged well, it had a very dated look to it, especially in the special effects, some effects (the ice scene) were just outlandish and cheesy, ruining the scene.
And to be honest, even though I enjoy Michael Yorkâ(TM)s roles in Austin Powers and The Three Musketeers, he seemed very amateurish in this film, he seemed wooden at times, which put me off, and just as wooden was Jenny Agutter, which was maybe a little less surprising.
Itâ(TM)s possible I missed the point in their roles, that the entire society they grew up in made them that way, but then how do you explain Francis, the other Sandman? To me, they just played it very badly, and I was disappointed that the film didnâ(TM)t do anything for me like it seems to have done for others, the supposed âclassicâ? it is.
