Review of Live Free or Die Hard (2007) by Tristan M — 29 Mar 2015
Not the biggest let down yet, but one of them. Being a more recent reboot this was bound to not be as successful as the others, but it took the franchise to far once again. Besides the acting and script being the usual, this time John is saving the whole country by himself, with the more or less help of a hacker.
I just don't really like all the hacking, there is so many movies that contain it now, and shows that a guy on a computer can hack into the mic on a specific aircraft and give it orders in less than a minute.
Doesn't actually happen. Plus they don't really have a reason to hack the country in the first place, they have an expert team, who all die because of a single cop, and still all they want is money.
Follows the typical Die Hard interest, but all the hacking, huge scale, and the spider man guy who us basically a ninja running up walls and scaling things in the most unrealistic of fashions just was far too dumb.
It's like Taken, combined with Enemy of the State, combined with Die Hard 2. And it doesn't work for me. Gun sounds are dull, and the fact that it's all fitted to a PG13 rating is the worst idea ever, what's the point when all the others are R? Less blood worst action, declining enjoyment.
Bad guys are American and French now, which is a new addition, but doesn't really change anything. The F-35 is weird to see, because we still don't have them operation today, the truck chase was cool but too much, and taking out the jet and John falling onto its wing.
.. Wow what is becoming of this once great movie series. The ending is good, but the best scene of the movie would for sure be the tunnel scene, with all the lights going out, the crashes, and car jumping into the helicopter was awesome and as far as I'm concerned, acceptable.
John is as badass as ever, it's nice to see him back, but wished for something more. Only reason it gets this rating is because of the franchise it belongs too. Only saved by being the worst in the series by the next sequel, which is far worst.
