Free from the excesses of Diamonds are Forever, Broccoli & co re-cast Bond as....

....Roger Moore. Hey, I like him. At least, I like him in this movie. We get a more down-to-earth adventure here, even if it's a hodgepodge of car chases and one-liners.

Yeah, it's goofy, and it's basically a cash-in on the blaxploitation genre (then again, approximately 100% of the 70s Bond films cashed in on whatever genre was popular), and also, Bond's mission here is sort of lame (why does he care about heroin? And how does he get away with what amounts to political assassination?), but.... I fucking like it. It's fun as all hell. The villains are cool, the score is awesome (Beatles producer George Martin), the song is awesome (some dude named Paul McCartney. I don't think he did much before or after that), and Jane Seymour is one of the hottest women ever.

Too bad it'd all hit the shitter with the next one.
