I remember reading this classic as a kid and at first not understanding why Jo didn't end up with Laurie. I don't know why this is the first time I've ever seen the story on film, but this version is not bad.
I would never have dreamed of Winona Ryder for the part of Jo, though. I wonder what the movie would have been like if she and Claire Danes had switched roles. Nicely done, though. HBO On Demand.
