Review of Little Women (1994) by Jessica S — 18 May 2009
Few men admit to liking this film out of fear of rejection from their male peers. But as I am eclectic and enjoy films of varying genres, I absolutely loved this film's presentation and more importantly the casting.
Winona Ryder's performance as Jo is spectacular and Christian Bale's performance is also worthy of acknowledgment. Some of the problems with the movie that I have are more due to the original source material.
Both Winona Ryder and Christian Bale's character have so much chemistry with one another that having their love not realized within the film is a grave disappointment for me. Instead the movie watcher must accept different pairings within the film where the passion and love seems feigned from my perspective.
Even with that small err within an excellent adaptation of one of my favorite novels, I still could easily re watch this endlessly.
