Beautifully rendered coming-of-age tale about a boy growing into a man in New York City. The subtlety in the plot plays second fiddle to characters who are so fully realized and portrayed with such emotional nuance that you feel you are in the hands of a master humanist.

I loved this movie so much and is one of the best character studies I've seen in years.
