If Woody Allen directed a two part episode of the Wonder Years, this movie is what you would get. I found the paradox of 11 year old kids speaking the dialogue in this movie absolutely hilarious. I found Cynthia Nixon and Brad Whitford very compelling in their supporting roles/subplot.
