Review of Little Children (2006) by David A — 15 Jun 2010
(from The Watermark, 01/25/07).
Beautiful Kate Winslet and yummy Patrick Wilson are two attractive parents who have an extra-marital affair. (It's OK -- Wilson's wife is a careerist control freak, and Winslet's husband is addicted to internet porn.) Also, there is a recently-released child molester (Jackie Earle Haley) living in their neighborhood who is being harassed by the local parents. The film is a cautionary tale that explores the consequences of selfish characters just doing whatever they feel like without considering the consequences. There may be nobody to root for, but the humor and slightly campy voice-over narration help things along, as well as the suspense of how these two story lines are eventually going to collide. Not to mention the excellent performances of Winslet and Haley and the breathtaking beauty of Wilson.
