Review of Little Buddha (1993) by Kathleen F — 27 Oct 2007
I definitely think the film suffers from a "spit personality"--the Seattle couple and their son are wooden, with little interest. The telling of the Buddha story is excellent and definitely Keanu Reeve's best acting.
I experience this film the way I read "War and Peace"--I fast forward through the war parts and read the peace parts of Tolstoy and I fast forward through the modern story to read about the life of the Buddha.
I do like the ending with the modern family, but the film belongs to Keanu Reeves and his strong characterization of the Buddha.
