Review of Little Buddha (1993) by Kari N — 11 Feb 2008
Really beautiful movie, although, as my boyfriend noted, it "misses" in a lot of ways.
Here's what shocked me (I guess it wouldn't have if I'd seen the poster): Keanu Reeves plays Buddha.
We were waiting for him to turn up, and yet, it wasn't until several minutes into his first scene (once he started talking) that I said, "Holy shit. Is that Keanu Reeves?".
(Not sounding so much like a film school grad, am I?).
Indeed. He's as beautiful as the art direction and cinematography in the rest of the movie. But...his voice. Not so good. They should have dubbed him.
