Review of Little Boy (2015) by Doug R — 27 Apr 2015
I wonder if the so-called critics saw the same movie that my family and I saw. The movie is not that bad. It doesn't "harangue" you although perhaps it is "blatantly" manipulative.
It is a bit old-fashioned, yes. That's part of the charm. It manages to pull off a few Forest Gump moments better than old Forest himself could have done. I wouldn't even really call it that much of a Christian movie - certainly nothing like God's Not Dead or Do You Believe.
I don't think you see a single person praying through out the entire movie. Only one small section of the Bible is discussing, and even that only sparingly (Jesus comparing faith to a mustard seed).
In fact it promotes a rather distorted view of Christianity in that it suggests it is the boy, not God, who 'moves the mountain' and 'ends the war' to save his dad. That said, it was a pleasant Sunday afternoon diversion.
