Review of Little Big Man (1970) by Lauren H — 24 Apr 2008
A wonderful amalgamation of western, comedy, tall tale and social commentary films. Hoffman is, frankly, adorable, as well as being a very fine actor. At times rambling, always inventive. The parallels that runs between some of the massacres and the Vietnam War are stark and painful to watch, as is Jack's fury.
The film never panders, never exalts and never fully condemns. Intelligent and entertaining, if a little overlong.
