Review of Little Ashes (2008) by Heather G — 06 May 2010
This is a beautiful love story between these two artists that doesn't ever really get to develop into a full-blown romantic relationship, and the actors do a wonderful job of telling the story and projecting their angst.
As a woman, I found myself both turned on and really rooting for these two at times - and I even cried a little at the end. I think the bad reviews, especially toward Robert Pattinson, are a little unfair.
He's young and has proven himself to have a range of talents, interests, and abilities - and you'll discover that in this gem if you can get past his "Edward Cullen" persona. It wasn't that hard for me, he's pretty convincing as Salavadore Dali, and it was refreshing to see him in something that isn't being quite so franchized.
Definately worth the watch when you're in the mood for an interesting period piece that is a little sultry. While the love scenes are moving, they aren't very explicit - if you're looking for gay porn, you should probably look somewhere else.
