Another intimate portrait of an artist (like this year's Kurt Cobain doc) built around lost audiotapes of the subject, in this case covering very personal material about the life and career of one of the key artistic talents in motion picture history.
The guy was an angel and a monster, and we learn that in spades during this fascinating pastiche of a documentary.
