Review of Listen to Britain (1942) by Paul J — 04 Apr 2015
An interesting time capsule film. It is a documentary and it's only 20 minutes long but the fact that it captures Britain during WWII, is quite remarkable. I wouldn't be surprised if the filmmakers were inspired by the Russian film Man with the Movie Camera.
Both are essentially silent and both capture a slice of life. Listen to Britain does have sound effects and music though. In some respects it's a per-cursor to films like Koyaanisqatsi and Baraka.
