Review of Lion (2015) by Ed L — 10 Feb 2017
While this movie starts out clearly envisioned it borrows its best bits from Slumdog Millionaire then gets mired in the middle with no place to go except its obvious conclusion. We end up knowing too much about his sex life and his adopted mothers complexity and too little about his biological families reaction to his sudden absence.
This film does pay off however in the last half hour, when the story reaches a lovely bittersweet conclusion. A good movie, uneven in tone but with an satisfying and emotionally resonant ending that rings true.
